The Story of &, or How Good Partnerships Change the World

Between September 30 and October 8, visitors to the National Palace of Culture in Sofia will be able to view the interactive exhibition The Story of & — an immersive digital experience that brings to life the place where dreams and reality meet.

The experience will engage all your senses through a walk in the grass, a meeting with the avatar of choir conductor Maxim Eshkenazy, a fantastical display featuring illustrations by artist Tekla Aleksieva, a play of lights and shadows by graphic artist Kapka Kaneva, and many more surprising encounters. The exhibition will transport visitors to the future, but its narrative is inspired by real Bulgarian stories of optimism and bold dreams.

“This story is about & — about people and organizations working together. It is a story of a 15-year journey of partnerships towards the dream of a better life,” says Nancy Schiller, the president of the America for Bulgaria Foundation. The exhibition is dedicated to the Foundation’s 15th anniversary and celebrates the projects of ABF’s partners.

The exhibition concept and design are also the work of a partnership: MP-STUDIO, well-known to Bulgarian audiences as the creative company behind the increasingly popular annual festival of lights LUNAR; architectural studio Atelier 3, which transforms cultural and historical sites into engaging visitor experiences, notably the Vratsa Treasures exhibition at the Regional History Museum in Vratsa; and creative agency guts and brains DDB.

Also featured are works by artists Tekla Aleksieva and Kapka Kaneva, the image and voice of maestro Maxim Eshkenazy, and acting by Veselin Rankov, Chuck Brown, Kristina Veroslavova, and Kate Nichols.

The
Story of & opens on September 30 and will be available for viewing daily through October 8, 2023. Admission is free, and self-guided tours start every 20 minutes. The exhibit duration is approximately 20 minutes.
