In December we welcomed 62 new initiatives to the ABF community, which are receiving funding as part of the America for Bulgaria Foundation’s Next 10 Program in support of ideas that matter. Some of the initiatives address local or regional challenges, while others have the potential to benefit every citizen in Bulgaria.
The funding is twice as much as planned due to the large number of excellent projects submitted in response to the four RFPs under the Next 10 program.
The US Embassy in Bulgaria and the America for Bulgaria Foundation are proud to announce a new campaign—Healing Together—to fight the spread of COVID-19 in Bulgaria. Over the next few months, the US Embassy and the America for Bulgaria Foundation will provide an additional $1 million (1.66 million levs) for anti-COVID supplies and services to Bulgaria.
The America for Bulgaria Foundation received a total of 312 project proposals as part of its Next 10 Program. The deadline for submissions in the program’s four Requests for Proposals (RFPs) was October 25.

In 2020 students from around Bulgaria will send messages to space aboard a Blue Origin rocket.
Stunning nature, the remains of Europe’s oldest woman, a museum dedicated to Bulgaria’s “Henry Ford,” or some of the most interesting caves and rock formations in the world. Although Vratsa offers plenty to see and do, its people are the region’s greatest asset. Open Vratsa to discover that wealth!
The support is part of Tourism Development in Northwestern Bulgaria, a pilot program of the America for Bulgaria Foundation launched on June 16 and receiving 145 applications.
One conclusion from the COVID-19 outbreak in Bulgaria is that if society is to overcome crises like this one, business, civil society, and public institutions have to work together. The United against COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund showed one such partnership model.
